CHEO is recruiting a Department Chief and full-time pediatric anesthesiologist to actively lead clinical care, teaching and research in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. As one of 8 CHEO Medical Department Chiefs, the Chief of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine is a key medical leader within the organization. The successful candidate will oversee the quality and safety of clinical care provided by the Department, and as Co-Medical Director of Perioperative Services will work in close collaboration with the Chief of Surgery and the Director of perioperative services to co-lead the clinical Perioperative Services Patient Care leadership Team (PCLT).
Presently there are 19 anesthesiologists and two pediatric anesthesia fellows within the Department. A dedicated team of anesthesia assistants affiliated with our department provide on call coverage.
The Department is an integral part of the University of Ottawa’s Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified residency program in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and runs a Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship program. Candidates must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. CHEO is a bi-lingual organization and while English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset.
Eligibility for a license to practice medicine with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is mandatory. Candidates must have FRCPC or equivalent certification in Anesthesiology and fellowship training in pediatric anesthesiology.
