Our board-certified physicians are extensively trained in rheumatology, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and the management of intravenous medications. They are supported by a highly skilled team of physician assistants, ultrasound and X-ray technologists, nurses, and administrative staff—each committed to creating a positive patient experience while delivering exceptional medical care.

Company History

Greensboro Rheumatology was founded in 2016 by Dr. James Beekman and Dr. Angela Hawkes, two experienced physicians who previously practiced together in a multi-specialty medical group. While they valued the breadth of care in that setting, they recognized the growing need for specialized, patient-focused rheumatology services in the community. Driven by a shared passion for improving the lives of patients with autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions, they established Greensboro Rheumatology as a dedicated center for the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of rheumatologic diseases. Since its founding, the practice has been committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care in a welcoming environment, helping patients achieve the best possible quality of life.
